Nathan Enriquez and UNM

It appears that Mayfield defensive back/running back/wide receiver Nathan Enriquez is headed to the University of New Mexico to play football. He'll join teammate and defensive back Freddy Young, who committed a few weeks ago.

The 6-foot Enriquez is arguably one of the state's top athletes. He was standout football player, who helped lead the Trojans to state football titles in 2006 and 2007 and helped the baseball squad to a runner-up showing in 2007.

Enriquez is simply a playmaker and his future at UNM will likely be the same in whichever spot they put him.

Enriquez simply love to play the game and he's got a competitive edge that fuels his desire to be one of the best out there.

And Enriquez knows about winning. The Trojans went 25-1 in two football seasons and Enriquez made big play after big play as a high school football standout.

With Young and Enriquez both going to UNM, that says a lot about the hard work and talent of both players. It also shows that UNM is serious about taking the best from New Mexico and giving them the chance to produce and help make the Lobos a better program.

Head coach Rocky Long has long been a proponent of taking New Mexico's best prep football talent and giving them the chance to help them win.

The Lobos are coming off their first bowl win in over 40 years and the future looks bright. Looks like Enriquez and Young made the right decision with their future.
