NMSU football recruiting

The Aggies have offered scholarships to two El Paso high school football players, according to their respective coaches.
Montwood offensive guard Jake Swenson and Hanks receiver Ryan Pettis are the two players who have received attention from the Aggies.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Pettis caught 20 touchdown passes in the past two years and Hanks coach Jeff Cleveland said Pettis has great potential for the future. He said Pettis’ offer from NMSU was the first he has received from a university. Other schools looking at Pettis include Texas-El Paso and Houston.
“Ryan has great potential,” Cleveland said. “He has good hands and good speed. He runs a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. He also has good hands and has play-making ability.”
Meanwhile, Swenson had a solid season on the offensive and defensive lines according to Montwood head coach Chuck Veliz.
“He’s a tough guy up front and he has great potential for the next level,” Veliz said. “He had a good performance in the playoffs this year against good teams and his future is on the offensive line at the next level.”
Veliz said NMSU’s offer was the first for the 6-foot-6, 300-pound Swenson.
