NMSU recruiting

The New Mexico State football program is making progress already in in-state progress at least in terms of presentation.

The Aggies have already offered Onate linebacker Zach Daugherty and word is that they are seriously interested in La Cueva's Ronnie Daniels, a standout who is a good runner and could be a defensive back down the road.

Daniels is talented and has a bright future, especially since he's going to get bigger and stronger.

If first year NMSU football coach DeWayne Walker shows he's seriously interested in recruiting the best in the state, then he will fare well in recruiting.

He talks about changing the culture of NMSU football and recruiting New Mexico players is one way to do it. The fact that the NMSU program is taking positive steps already, has to be a plus on the statewide landscape.

There has always been debate about the talent level of high school players in New Mexico and their ability to take it to the next level.

The fact is there are a number of players that can make contributions, I'm not saying they are star type players, but they can make contributions.

New Mexico State has not gotten many of those type of players and Walker is hoping to change that.
