After seven seasons, 60 wins and three state championships in Class 2A, Charles Gleghorn has decided to move up in class to 4A Kirtland Central, where he was named the head football coach last week.
Gleghorn helped bring respect to the Hatch Valley football program, which had long struggled. The Bears won three Class 2A state football titles and made the playoffs three other times.
Hatch Valley was fun to watch under Gleghorn, who brought the spread passing attack to the program.
The Bears scored a lot of points and threw for a lot of yards.
Gleghorn is a good coach and a genuine nice guy in the business. Now, he'll get a chance to do some good things in a different class of football.
Gleghorn has a good mind for the game, he deals well with people and he has the experience of winning a lot of games. Don't be surprised to see Gleghorn achieve a great deal in his next stop. There will be an adjustment period for both the team and Gleghorn, but he'll be fine down the road.
