Finally, the time has arrived for Saturday's much-anticipated Floyd Mayweather vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nev. Mayweather has been off for more than a year, but is still considered a viable welterweight contender and he's never lost.
Marquez owns two wins at lightweight after moving up in weight, but is taking another step up in weight this time, moving up to a supposed catch weight of 143 for this fight.
Many believe Mayweather will win the fight and I'm one of those. But I don't believe it will be easy. I think Marquez will come out strong and make a fight of it for much of the night. I just don't know if he can handle Mayweather's speed for the entire 12 rounds. Look for Mayweather to escape with a close, but difficult decison, 115-113.
Of note, on the undecard, Chris John faces Rocky Juarez in a featherweight bout. It's a rematch of their Feb. fight in which the pair fought to a draw for John's WBA featherweight title. But I thought John was the better fighter that night and don't be shocked if he's the better fighter again on Saturday. Look for him to win via decision, 116-112.
Felix
