Andersen takes Utah State coaching job
The Associated Press
LOGAN, Utah — Defensive coordinator Gary Andersen is leaving Utah to become the football coach at Utah State.
Utah State introduced Andersen on Thursday, bringing in the longtime Utah assistant to take over a program that hasn’t had winning record since 1996.
Andersen told his players at Utah on Wednesday night that he was accepting Utah State’s offer.
Andersen planned to meet with Utah coach on Kyle Whittingham on Friday to decide whether he’ll still have a role with the seventh-ranked Utes in their bowl game. Utah went 12-0 during the regular season and is awaiting a Bowl Championship Series bid Sunday.
