Unbeaten heavyweight David Rodriguez, who trains here in Las Cruces will likely take on Byron Polley on Dec. 21 in Las Cruces. Rodriguez is 26-0 with 25 knockouts, while Polley is 21-7-1.
Rodriguez is the likely main event on a card that is slated to be shown on one of the Spanish channel's that show boxing, likely Telefutura or Telemundo.
Rodriguez last fought in June when he knocked out Rick Dyer. The Dec. 21 fight for Rodriguez will be a big step up for Rodriguez, who wants to and needs to pick up his level of competition if he wants to get his name in the heavyweight mix. Rodriguez is quick and has a good punch, but he needs to see what he can do against opponents of similar competition.
Also slated for the card are Las Cruces fighters Austin Trout (unbeaten) and Sammy Di Pace (pro debut).
El Paso fighter Abie Han, who trains in Las Cruces, could make his pro debut on Nov. 10 in Arizona.
