Congratulations to all the local kids who made the team!!!!!
With 6 local players you would think that Rock W. from NMSU would like to have one on his roster. I know we would go and see the game!!! Congratulations to the local 6. Make us proud you have worked hard to get there!!!!
i know all you local people that really dont know the game want a local kid every year on nmsu baseball roster but in case you havent noticed, high school baseball in new mexico is terrible. i agree on having local kids on the roster is important but the players that are good in new mexico dont necarilly mean they will be good at the D-1 level. this years crop from las cruces isnt ready for D-1.
Fact of the matter is that NMSU is also not ready for D1! NMSU doesn't even scout the local talent so how would they know if there is D1 talent here or not. Funny how our local talent is good enough for UNM but not NMSU.
On local kids playing for NMSU, well Kyle Hammond is a near local playing T-Ball in LC before moving to Albuquerque. Having only pitched 12.1 innings for NMSU as a true freshman this year he wasn't given much opportunity. In his first WAC action he did pitch 2 shutout innings over now CWS participant Fresno State.
