Manny Pacquiao was very impressive on Saturday night in his lightweight debut. He was still very fast, threw combinations from different angles and showed power. It looked as if David Diaz would survive the 12 rounds, but a Paquiao straight left ended the fight in the ninth.
Diaz had some success early with some body shots and straight lefts, but Pacquiao was simply too quick and with welterweight Floyd Mayweather now retired, Pacquiao must now be considered the top pound-for-pound boxer in boxing.
What's next for Pacquiao? Perhaps a showdown with unbeaten Edwin Valero or a move up to 140 to take on Ricky Hatton.Look for Pacquiao to take on Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time next year.
Here's my top five pound for pound fighters:
1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Joe Calzaghe
3. Juan Manuel Marquez
4. Kelly Pavlik
5. Israel Vasquez
