Former Gadsden High School basketball player Frank Borden will play in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, which starts next week.
Borden plays for American University in Washington, D.C. American beat Colgate 52-46 on Friday afternoon to claim the Patriot League Tournament Championship.
Borden played 38 minutes, picked up two assists and had two rebounds. On the season, he is averaging 2.8 points per game, is 16-for-19 from the free throw line and has hit nine 3-pointers. He played two years at at Cochise College in Douglas, Ariz., before signing with American University last spring.
Borden helped lead the Panthers to the 2005, Class 5A state basketball tournament and the District 3-5A tournament title. His sister Alice Borden played volleyball at New Mexico State for four years.
