Junior welterweight Ricky Hatton will take on El Paso's Juan Lazcano on May 24 in England.
We last saw Hatton on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas, Nev., losing to Floyd Mayweather. That was the 43-1 Hatton's first loss in his career.
Hatton is better suited for the 140-pound ranks. He's stronger at that weight and there are several lucrative matches for the entertaining and solid fighter.
For a comeback fight, Lazcano is a good pick. The El Paso fighter has had a good career winning 37 fights, 27 by knockout. But Lazcano probably won't beat Hatton in England. Hatton will be motivated, he will encouraged by his move back down to 140 pounds and he is simply too strong for Lazcano.
If Hatton wins his fight, he could fight Paul Malignaggi, if he beats Lovemore N'Dou in a rematch. That fight would be in the fall.
But first up is Hatton/Lazcano and that's a good fight for the sport. It's a battle between two fighters that have fought some of the game's biggest names. I just like the hungrier, stronger fighter in Hatton. Lazcano has some good pop, but I don't think it's enough for him to get the win.
