Former Las Cruces High and Carlsbad High head football coach Kirk Potter is back as a head coach in New Mexico. He was recently hired at the new high school in Rio Rancho, V. Sue Cleveland High School. Potter was the head coach at LCHS for two years in the 1990s, including leading the program to an 11-1 mark on season. He later coached Carlsbad to the 2000 big schools state title game where the Cavemen lost to you guessed, Las Cruces High.
And former Rio Rancho High guard Marcus Williams is headed to play basketball at Cochise College in Arizona, a two-year junior college. Williams is the younger brother of New Mexico State wide receiver Chris Williams. Marcus Williams played football, basketball and ran track for RRHS.
