According to a key source, it looks like Mayfield High School girls basketball coach George Maya is leaning towards taking an assistant coaches job at New Mexico State under Darin Spence. Maya has won two state titles at Mayfield and finished second twice. A decision could be made in the next 1-2 weeks.

He would do well there, He was the best high school recruiter in Southern New Mexico. Problem is Abney has got better at it.
no Abney is a better coach. You hit it on the nose Maya was recruiting-and not to be at High School-all the kids at Mayfield were for a long time Cruces High Kids.
I remember when he was an Asst. at Gadsden and had potential written all over him.
oh he recruited all right and now that his daughter is done i can see him leaving. As a head coach i give him a average rating as a recruiter above average.
Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes.....talk about recruiting, how many incoming freshman on LCHS freshman basketball team do not live in LCHS district? about half on the boys team.
As far as the incoming Freshmen boys to LCHS...in case you did not know there is "open enrollment" as a 9th grader. I'm sure people are relieved to see Smith gone so they want there kid to play for Benjamin. I doubt he's recruiting, people just wanted change!
oh sour grapes those are the best kind...........dont you think?
Are you kidding about L.C. change? Expect the same under achieving teams at L.C high with William.
i take it that your not a lchs fan then?
well is he gone or not?
