Interesting Prep Hoops note

Of note, Highland High School point guard Xavier Blount left the program to transfer to a high school in Virginia.

Blount was one of the best players in New Mexico and was being recruited by several Division I schools.

Xavier will have attended 4 high schools. Played 9th grade football at Rio Rancho, then transfered to Hope Christian when the season was over and some how was eligibile to play varsity basketball 2 weeks later. After a 2 year stint at Hope, transferred to Highland, ruled eligible and played 1 season.

A perfect example of the schools in albuquerque getting away with murder. The kids get to play were they want, when they want. I'm sure highlands has another player coming. This one is probably from Los Angeles for a 1 year contract

It is very difficult to recruit here in Las Cruces. First, the kids stay with their home school almost every time and second, the ad's watch eligibility very closely. The teams who can recruit with impunity are the private schools. They aren't limited by a district boundary. Eligibility usually isn't a factor in private schools. They don't watch it that closely.
