A couple of interesting notes about local fighters.
Heavyweight David Rodriguez has entered the World Boxing Council rankings at No. 24. He is hoping to land a fight soon on television. Rodriguez is from El Paso, but trains part-time in Las Cruces.
Meanwhile, Las Cruces junior middleweight Austin Trout is ranked No. 37. Trout fights Wednesday in Houston, Texas, on ESPN2 against Byron Tyson.
