Local baseball stars staying home

Onate High baseball players Joe Koerper and Randy Montoya have committed to play baseball at New Mexico State beginning in the fall of 2009. Koerper plays 1B and Montoya is a SS/Pitcher.

The duo helped lead OHS to a runner-up showing in the 5A state tournament this past May and were members of the 2007 team that reached the semifinals.

Look for a story in Friday's Las Cruces Sun-News.

Also, former OHS star Abe Tarin has committed to the University of New Mexico according to Montoya. Tarin transferred to La Cueva for his senior year.
