Boxing show in the works in Cruces

A Sept. 13 boxing card is being talked about involving Austin Trout at the Pan American Center. Other names being tossed around are Gustavo Enriquez, Abie Han and David Rodriguez. Stayed tuned as more develops.

I don't really care for boxing, does anyone really follow that sport anymore? I know you like to write about it but I just never hear anyone talking about it, think it's lost interest.

Anon. Speak for yourself. Boxing is alive and well. Granted a mostly local card will only draw a local audience, but put a young Julio Cesar Jr on the card or someone with a established fan base and watch the event grow quickly.

Felix keep up the good work.

Anonymous, I respect your comment, but boxing is very big in the hispanic community and locally. Austin Trout is unbeaten, Sammy Di Pace is an up and comer and there is Antonio Escalante from El Paso. Plus, there has been a resurgence in the sport the past two and half years with the amount of big fights. Just look at the Pay-Per-View numbers and the ratings of some of the bigger fights on HBO and Showtime.

I love boxing. It is great to have write ups every once in awhile. Who cares what one person thinks keep it up Felix some of us enjoy seeing other sports instead of the same thing over and over again. Boxing is a true man's sport. Their is nothing like seeing to competitors go at it to see who is best. Any combat sport is exciting especially when you have the boxers that we do in this area as well as Joseph Benavidez in MMA. Great job Felix.
