I'm stepping away from NMSU football, boxing, horse racing and preps for this one item. But Monday came the news that Alex Steinmetz was transferring from New Mexico to Maryland to continue her Division I volleyball career. It was a good move for Steinmetz, who surely wasn't playing nearly as much as she had hoped during her time with the Aggies.
Steinmetz has been a key figure in the volleyball scene in Las Cruces, dating back to her time at Las Cruces High, where she helped the team to a second-place finish as a senior.
Steinmetz is a talented player, who when on her game and focused, can be a contributor to a team on the Division I level.
