Aggies vs. Hawaii follow

It appears that the New Mexico State Aggies could add another year to their bowl-less streak.

New Mexico State had a better offensive game against Hawaii on Saturday, but fell 42-30 on Saturday afternoon against

New Mexico State got a huge day from receivers Chris Williams and Marcus Anderson, who combined for four scores, but the defense struggled in the first half and a key turnover in the second half ended a promising drive and put seven on the board for Hawaii, which returned an interception 91 yards for the score.

The Aggies played hard, but again just couldn't hold onto to a lead. Against Idaho on Oct. 18, the Aggies led 14-7, but lost 20-14. Against Hawaii, the Aggies led 14-7 but again gave up the lead.

The postgame news confernece was subdued. The players and coach Mumme were disappointed with the loss and seemed to take little comfort in the fact that they played Hawaii close.

Saturday's loss was the team's fourth straight in league play and dropped NMSU to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in Western Athletic Conference.

The Aggies have three more games and in theory could finish 6-6, but road games at Fresno State and Utah State are going to be uphill battles and the home game vs. Louisiana Tech is looking dicey right now. Louisiana Tech beat Fresno St. last week and won at San Jose State on Saturday night.

There has been much speculation about Hal Mumme's job security and it's sure to intensify this week. My hunch is if NMSU falls to Fresno State, he could be asked to resign or be fired.

Sure "in theory" the Aggies can finish 6-6, but that's not gonna happen. In theory, this team could have been bowl eligible...at least that's what some of us believed, especially after the win at Reno. I do not see this team winning anymore games this season. Plus, I doubt Mumme will be asked to resign or be fired if they lose to Fresno St. I'm sure Boston will let him finish this losing season.

As good as Chris Williams and Marcus Anderson are, they can't carry the offense by themselves. Somebody needs to step up and help them!!

I've been pretty admirable of the defensive efforts during the season but, this was their worst showing of the year.

I think Boston won't fire Mumme until it is mathematicaly impossible to finish 6-6.

NMSU has not beaten a D1 school at home since last year and will not win another game this year.
Also, attendance is at 15,000 a game but, that will drop when LaTech comes to town.

Thank you Mumme for sending us to D1AA status!!!

I saw tickets are $2 for the LaTech game. Economic downturn, my brown @$$!
They can give out turkeys, Christmes cards and free beer. As long as Mumme is around and Greg Harrod is insulting the community, the fans won't show up!!!

If NMSU is to turn this thing around, they need to:

1). Fire Mumme and bring in a young, up and coming coach (Major Applewhite, Ron English, Ron Holt, etc.) or bring in a well named coach (Gary Barnett, Jerry Glanville, Ron Prince, etc), looking for a second chance.

2). NMSU needs to do what Kansas St. did in the late 80's & early 90's. Go into serious debt with a good coach and invest $$$ into the crappy facilities.

Yes, the walking overpass, auditorium, and Jumbotron are nice but, get rid of the FB locker room.
How about some suites or how about paving and landscaping the AAF, A-Club and Alumni parking lots south of the PanAm?!
You ask us boosters for $$ and all we get is a dirt lot with dying plants and trees? C'mon!!

48 years of losing is adding up and is boiling over!!

Actually its pretty much impossible for our attendance to drop below that magic number. The athletic website lists the attendance for the past four games at 78246 and 10861 for this last one which totals 89107 and an average of 17821 people. In order to average 15000 people or less in the season we need to be below 90,000 and I dont see less than 900showing up for the last game. So attendance wont take us to DivII ball

Good math, GS!
I think there's like 6,000 season ticket holders and those count towards attendance wether they show up or not, right?

So good, another year as the WAC bottom feeder. Thank you Mumme!

Good thing Greg "foot in my mouth" Herrod was able to bring Alcorn St at the last minute.
Otherwise, we would have never won a home game this year!! Thanks again, Mummme!

Anon. 6:34 AM, you just gave me another reason to not renew my season tickets if Dumme is back next year.

As for the family friendly $2 tickets, how about the AD give me the $22 it owes me instead? I got 4 season tickets then they go and slash the prices, after they got my money.

If it means those $22 wil go to a new coach, then by all means keep it. But if Dumme is still here next year, my money will go to Mike Jordan and Darren Spence. At least those guys know what they are doing, and the ladies will give us a reason to be proud.

This senior class deserved better, than the effort(or lack there of) the coaching staff gave them and us this year.

Isn't 48 seasons of "bowl game next year" long enough? What's it going to get everyone to realize that maybe the problem isn't the head coach-could it be further up in the athletic department? Are there those that WANT to keep this program the way it is today? And,why is no one asking these questions?
