Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz

Potentially one of the best fights of 2009 takes place late next month in Houston when Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz battle in a lightweight battle.

Marquez is truly one of the sport's best, having beaten the likes of Joel Casamayor and Marco Antonio Barrera and battling Manny Pacquiao to a draw.

Marquez moved up to lightweight last September and beat Casamayor by knockout. Marquez is getting better with age and he's tough as nails. He's a smart boxer and he's finally getting the big fights he deserves.

Meanwhile, Diaz is one of the best lightweights around. He has beaten some of the division's best and his only loss was a close one to Nate Campbell.

Diaz wears his opponents down and he bounced back from his loss to Campbell with a strong win against Michael Katsidis.

Expect a grind it out affair between the two lower weight fighters, but Marquez's boxing ability should be enough to earn a close decision. What are your thoughts?

Marquez should come out ahead. He has been in some battles, and I am afraid that Diaz might push him past the limit. Diaz doesn't have much power, put will put constant pressure.

I see this being an Arguello-Mancini type fight. Diaz is a very good fighter but I think that Marquez is too much for him at this point in his career. Should be an entertaining fight.
