Shabazz wins title

Las Cruces amateur boxer Siju Shabazz won the 178-pound championship of the National Police Athletic League boxing tournament on Saturday night in Oxnard, Calif.
Shabazz beat Ayoola Olorunsola of Pasadena, Calif., by a score of 5-0. He went 3-0 at the tournament. Shabazz also won the 2007 Golden Gloves championship.

Great job!! ... Way to represent Las Cruces! Remember when Siju was a freshman playing football for Tony Samuel? He had to make a choice: boxing or football ... after his brothers starred in football, that seemed like a natural decision, but Siju went with his heart and look where it's taken him ... good decision.

are you sure it was siju that played for samuel? i thought he was much younger than that? either way great job!

I'm sure ... look it up. His freshman year. He played safety with a freshman named Derrick Richardson.

GOOD JOB Siju and for everyones information Ayanna Vasquez also won at the P A L national tournament this is her 3rd Pal championship even thou she is only 14 years old she should be reconginzed for her accomplishments she now holds the most national titles in the Pal gym as an amature with a total of 7 if im not mistakeing Sam Di Pace held about 13 or 14 either way good job to both Boxers
