Mumme buyout figure

Former New Mexico State football coach Hal Mumme received a buyout of around $550,000 according to his lawyer, Russ Campbell.

That's why Mumme didn't sign his extension. He'd of got less. Shows you what he really thought about the situation coming into the season. Wish I could get a cool half million to not work.

Wow, you think for that much the Univ. would have put a confidentiality clause. There is no way he should have made that much. What would his salary have been had he stayed?

Well, they offered up the extension. It had
a clause in there that if he didn't win x amount of games, they could let him go. He didn't sign it, so it kept his old contract in force, that didn't have that
language (that he had to win x amount of games). His original contract was very complex.
