Rio Rancho's Troy Harris to visit NMSU

I talked with Rio Rancho High School's Troy Harris today. He is visiting the NMSU campus this weekend on an official visit. He played running back for the Rams, but could play in the offensive backfield or at free safety in college. He said he really liked the NMSU campus on his unofficial visit last summer.

He has offers from Eastern New Mexico and Adams State among others. He also has received some interest from smaller schools on the east coast.

Come on, this is D1 ball we are talking about. There is no way NMSU should lose out on a kid to Adams State. Until I read this post, I had never heard of Adams St. I had to google it to find out it's in Colorado.

NMSU hasn't even offered him. He might just be the best player in the state. He was named the 2008 New Mexico Gadorade player of year. NMSU needs to offer him.

Please ... this is nothing to get excited about. A kid from Rio Rancho, who's goal is to play D-I football is NOT the big-time recruit the media is making him out to be. If he was big-time, NMSU would be fighting UNM, UofA, UofColorado, etc for him. We are "fighting" Eastern NM and Adams State for him? Hahahahahahaha ... And please don't bring up former Aggie Chris Williams from Rio Rancho ... UCLA had interest in him.
This is nothing to be excited about.
