Onate HS LB Zach Daugherty

Onate HS linebacker Zach Daugherty has already received offers from New Mexico and New Mexico State. Apparently, Oregon is also showing some interest in Daugherty as a strong safety according to a key source. Stay tuned.

Sounds like this kid is pretty good. I haven't seen him play, but there's obviously something there if NMSU, UNM and Oregon are already trying to get him and his junior season just ended a few months ago. Hopefully he won't pull a CJ Oakley and head up north and f*** up his career.

Dude, it's baseball season!!

Dude, I am sorry that you are forced to live in a football dominated town/state/country! Football season is year round.

Glad to hear about Zach getting some love from the Pac 10. Hopefully he'll stay here, but can't blame him if he wants to go take a shot at the Rose Bowl instead of No bowl.

there is a difference between getting a letter and getting a offer. the only offers he has is nmsu and unm check scout.com besides his grades arent that great according to teammates.

Zach will be fine. He will likely have a few more offers before it's all said and done.

Funny you say the "only" offers he has are from UNM/NMSU... two offers is pretty good for March.

Once his senior season comes around people will realize the competition he is playing with and against is ridiculously sorry. Of course the kid is gonna stand out. This kid is way too undersized for college and many will realize it when he gets to the D-1 level. Talking from experience the players in college football are all excellent.Until Zack proves me wrong i am still going to be laughing at these early offers.

thank you finally someone who knows something, you said.

Why the hate?
6'-1" and 200# is too small as a junior in high school?

Ridiculously sorry competition?

OhhhhKaaay.

You people around here are nuts! For years you complain about the local schools not using local kids, then when they offer a few of them (Dante, James, Zach, etc.,) you hate on them.

You have anger/insecurity issues oozing out of your pores.

UNM has made a living out of local kids these past few years, and they've had some success.
NMSU seems to be coming around to the idea that local kids can play.

Obviously you're an NFL guy, Mr. anonymous on Felix's sports blog... get out of your mom's basement and see the light of day once in a while.

Zach is probably the best upcoming senior in the state of New Mexico. If anyone on this blog knew anything about high school football they would know this. The kid is a stud and he owns the field when he takes it. Probably some Mayfield haters.Get over yourselves and be proud that someone from our city is getting some offers. People who are talking noise probably wished they got offers like this when they were playing ball, but didn't even get any offers from Western New Mexico. stop bing haters.

oh mayfield or cruces would love to have some of onates players felixs article stated he had looks from pac 10 schools looks and offers are too different things. but we agree it is about time some of the local kids got offers from nmsu. But it doesnt mean we hate the kid.

Nobody said looks equal offers.

For a local kid to get looks from outside the state, PAC 10 or otherwise is a good thing.
The in-state offers basically legitimize him as a player.

Look at it this way... If schools are looking at a kid in the local area, and someone else playing with or against him is also legit, that someone else will get a look too.

Some of you are too funny. You obviously must know more than these silly division one college coaches... (dripping sarcasm)

if people are going to comment on here why freaken put down the kid. Don't say anything bad if you have something to say keep it to yourself. i bet it makes those people feel good about themselve that they put down a kid.

You guys are too much.

Here a senior in high school(gatorade player of the year) is one of the most mature on this blog.
Be happy for Zach, James, Dante, and whoever else gets an opportunity to play at the next level.

one must remember not only do the kids get bashed on here but so do coaches, parents, administrator, the list goes on and on.
But that is how the real world is.

The adults (coaches, etc.), are getting paid for their trouble...
Not the 16 and 17 year old kids.

Anonymous said...

and because they get paid its ok to bash them????????

Anonymous said...

At least they get something for their troubles...
People on here are bashing adolescent boys.

You'd rather do that?

Those getting paid for the positions they've accepted are presumably adults.

Listen, I'm not OK with bashing anyone. I think it's a rather chicken-poop tactic to go on an anonymous blog and tear down anyone, but if you must be that low, I'd rather see you tear down someone who gets paid for their efforts than tear down these boys who are actually doing something positive for themselves and their schools...

hey everyone i got an idea, why not do away with these blog completly and then no one has to have there feelings hurt.

No one is getting there feelings hurt here. Haters just drive me to do better. I like seeing stuff like this because I know one day i'll prove the people that doubt me wrong :)

Come on up here to ABQ with us Zack. The boys from Cruces r all better off up here anyways. People think that NMSU's coach is gonna suddenly change everything. In reality there is no hope. They'll see. Nathan, Freddy, Dante, and Chris will all contribute to your decision with their success on the field as Lobos. Work hard your senior year and come join the Lobo family
