NMSU football

A key source has informed me that UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker and USC linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. have been interviewed for the head football job at New Mexico State.

New Mexico State is looking for a new football coach after Hal Mumme was fired on Tuesday after four years and one year remaining on his contract, which expires on Jan. 31, 2010.

The source added that Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson is still a possibility in the coaching search and that Nebraska receivers coach and recruiting coordinator Ted Gilmore is also in the mix.

Stay tuned
