Rodriguez possible fight

Unbeaten El Paso heavyweight David Rodriguez, who trains part-time in Las Cruces under trainer Louie Burke could have an interesting fight in the works.

Word on the street is that negotiations are could soon start on a fight with Argentina's Gonzalo Omar Basile, who is 36-4 with 16 knockouts. Rodriguez is 30-0 with 28 knockouts. Omar Basile is ranked No. 14 by the World Boxing Organization.

The fight could happen within the first few weeks of 2009.

an opponent with a record, now we are talking. Burke does that with all his fighters, pads the record, but unfortunatley that is great practice in the boxing world.
